Moody Alumni Respond: Matthew and Pam McCormick
Matthew and Pam McCormick are graduates of Moody Bible Institute (MBI) and serve in the area of discipleship and sustainable development in Northern Haiti with Fellowship International Mission (FIM).
The McCormick’s have served with FIM since 2004 and were located in Haiti in 2007. On January 12, when the 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, Matt, Pam and their two children were at their home. They saw and felt the devastation of this natural disaster. The four McCormick's were not hurt, but experienced the horrific nature of the earthquake as they waited, wondered and prayed. Pam and the children are now safe in the United States as she is due with their third child, while Matt remains in Haiti to help with relief efforts.
As a teenager Matt sensed God’s call to missions as a result of a high school mission trip. Upon graduating high school in Michigan, he enrolled at MBI and graduated in 2001. During his time at Moody, God grew Matt’s passion for the church and its potential for good among the poor.
Pam had a burden for serving Christ at a young age. While attending a Christian high school in California, Pam’s desires for world missions grew. As a student at MBI, God used Moody to shape Pam through her friends and experiences, professors and classes. Through firsthand involvement in ministries to prisoners, prostitutes and orphans, her passions were confirmed — caring for people who have suffered much.
